Harare

Hear Africa’s Zimbabwe operations are based in Harare under the leadership of our Country Director, Edith Jokomo. Situated in the north-east of the country, metropolitan Harare with a population of 2.8 million people, is the capital of Zimbabwe. From its base in Harare, Hear Africa manages all ongoing projects and programs in Zimbabwe. Specific to metropolitan Harare is the ongoing support of a community known as Irvine Farm. Irvine Farm is home to several hundred under assisted and impoverished families, many of whom are child-headed homes. Through the local school, Hear Africa provides a nutritious protein drink to the children each day. Historically in Harare, Hear Africa invested in women’s empowerment through textiles training. As an example of orphan care work, Hear Africa supports the Madyira family, who create a home for as many as 14 orphans at one time.
